YOUTH FELLOWSHIP:

Saint John’s Church Youth Fellowship is a traditional Episcopal monthly youth gathering that focuses on fellowship, faith, fun, and service.  Youth between 6th and 12th Grades are welcome!

On the first Friday of each month, the SJYF meets for service maintaining the ongoing ministry relationship with the Heritage YMCA on May Street in Historic Savannah.  Students and parents give time to the preschool and afterschool program children at the YMCA playing games, reading books, and sharing Christ’s Love through mentoring and fun.  The Youth Fellowship then attends evening prayer service at Saint John’s, and adjourns to planned activities that include soccer, volleyball, bowling, and ping-pong.

Often high school students also enjoy a ‘Friday in between’ gathering that gives Saint John’s older youth opportunities to talk openly with parents and priests about living out their faith in today’s crazy world.

Highlights of the Youth Fellowship Calendar:

  • Fall Season Kickoff each September that includes soccer and planning for the coming season of Youth Fellowship events
  • Trim-the-Tree Party each Christmas season that includes singing, food, and decorating the Saint John’s Church Christmas tree in the Historic Green Meldrim House
  • Lenten Retreat each March at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center in New Ebenezer, Georgia that includes a full weekend of team-building, Lenten reverence and lessons, a prayer service in the historic New Ebenezer Church, as well as bonfires, sports, and lots of laughter
  • Springtime Tybee Beach Bash each May that includes fun in the sun and sand at beautiful Tybee Island

The Saint John’s Youth Fellowship is open to all confirmed youth of Saint John’s and their guests between the ages of 12 and 17 years.  Student to adult ratio is 3 to 1, and all activities are sanctioned through the clergy and vestry of Saint John’s Church.  For more information contact Angela or John Locke , (912)547-1036.
